According to the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control) National Diabetes Statistics Report of 2020 cases of diabetes have risen to an estimated 34.2 million. In the U.S, diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate. The CDC’s latest diabetes statistics report 10.5% of the U.S population were effected by diabetes.

Statistics about Diabetes in 2019


According to the worldwide diabetes statistics of 2019 the figures and projection are given underneath.

·         About 463 million adults between 20-79 years were living with diabetes; and this will rise to 700 million by 2045 if circumstances persisted similar.

·         Type 2 of diabetes is increasing in many countries.

  • 79% of adults with diabetes were existing in low and middle earning countries
  • People who are above 65 years old have diabetes 1 in 5.
  • People 1 in 2 (232 million) with diabetes were undiagnosed.
  • Diabetes caused 4.2 million deaths
  • Diabetes caused at least USD 760 billion dollars in health expenditure in 2019 and 10% of its total were costing on adults
  • Over 1.1 million children and teenagers are living with type 1 diabetes
  • Nearly 374 million people are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes

Diabetes is caused by the body’s inability to create insulin or efficiently use its own, which is formed by islet cells found of the pancreas. Insulin helps to provide energy to body cells and regulate blood sugar levels in people.

  • Insulin is very important without it the body’s cells would be starved, destruction of body tissue and producing dehydration.
  • Insulin must have delivered by injection or a pump to the people of type 1 diabetes
  • By following a healthy meal plan and a program of regular physical activity, losing excess weight, and taking medications people can control their level of blood sugar. Treatments for each individual with diabetes will often change during the course. Insulin is the basic treatment of diabetes as it controls blood sugar level in people having type 2 diabetes.
